ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A Kansas City couple is asking for the public's help to find their lost dog, which ran away from a friend's care in the St. Louis area, while they were on an ocean cruise.
Quinten and Ellie Sepe say their little black dog, "Gomez," was left with a KC friend who took a sidetrip here to visit his family. The family went to a St. Louis Blues hockey game, leaving Gomez behind. When he was let outside upon their return, Gomez bolted into the night.
That was the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 24,  in Creve Coeur.
Learning about the crisis while at sea, the couple wanted to be airlifted off the cruise ship to join the search, but were told they had to wait two days until the next port of call.
After making landfall, wife Ellie took a $700 flight right away, while Quinten stayed on the ship for two more days to get a less expensive flight, he said.
Gomez's story has blown up on Facebook - a Help Bring Gomez Home page has been created - with tips coming in from people eager to help. There's also a $1,000 reward.

Possible Gomez sightings have been reported in Maplewood, near the Parkway Northeast Middle School and at Monsanto.
The family also hired a professional pet tracker, who eventually lost the dog's scent.

The Sepes are hoping someone is keeping Gomez safe from the cold.
Asked if the dog may be walking back home to Kansas City, Quinten says if so, "we'll welcome him with open arms."
Gomez has a name tag and identity chip. Anyone with information is asked to call 314-808-0973.
