Kemoll's is Leaving Downtown St. Louis

It's moving to Westport Plaza in early 2019

The historic Kemoll's Restaurant in downtown St. Louis will no longer be in downtown St. Louis next year.

That's because restaurant owner Marc Cusumano is moving his 92-year-old restaurant from the Metropolitan Square building to Westport Plaza, at the site of the former Dierdorf and Harts. The move will take place in early 2019, with the restaurant closing January 31st and hopefully reopening by Valentine's Day in Westport.

Cusumano explained to Brennan that, as he is getting older, he wanted to both downsize and modernize the restaurant. The new location will be smaller in size and will also be more of a "chop house", as Cusumano says more and more people lately are ordering grill items instead of Italian food.

Kemoll's opened on North Grand Boulevard in 1927. It moved 30 years ago to its current location at the Metropolitan Square building and was known for its 360-degree views of St. Louis. Cusumano says the restaurant has hosted hundreds of marriage proposals over the years, especially at "table 51," which overlooks the Arch.
