NEW YORK CITY (KMOX) - It was a great night to be in New York if you were a St. Louis Blues fan near West 14th Street and 6th Avenue, Monday night. That's where the 4-2 Game 2 win over the San Jose Sharks was celebrated by the patrons of Wood and Ales, NYC's premier Blues-fan bar.

Our Tom Ackerman drove about 40 blocks down 7th Avenue, from his temporary home at the New York Athletic Club near Central Park to take in the game. It truly bleeds as blue as Bobby's Place, Llewellyn's, O'B Clark's or any other Blues bar around the greater St. Louis area.

Last night, there was a trumpeter playing "Gloria" after the win and "When the Blues Go Marching In" after goals.

KMOX is in New York for the 101st PGA Championship, being played at Bethpage Black Course on Long Island.

Wood and Ales became THE Blues bar of New York thanks to St. Louis-native Alice Dunaway, who moved to New York more than a year ago for work. She found other Blues fans through social media that Wood and Ales would be playing Blues games on their TVs.
