Shildt: Wong Likely to Return Friday

The second baseman has missed nine games due to knee inflammation.

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals are expecting Kolten Wong to return to the lineup on Friday for the first game of a weekend series in Pittsburgh. Manager Mike Shildt confirmed to media, before Wednesday's game 

Wong expressed a chance there's a chance he may be healthy enough to return to game action on Thursday, depending on how he felt after an on-field workout, Wednesday. Shildt believes Friday will most likely be his return date. 

Wong has missed nine games since he was placed on the DL on July 22 with knee inflammation. 

In his absence, rookie Yairo Munoz has made a majority of the starts at second base. He's hitting .303 with five RBI in 38 plate appearances.
