Once again, Lindell is closed at Union after a sewer main failed
The Metropolitan Sewer District is trying to figure out what happened.
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — More frustration in the Central West End as Lindell is closed at Union...again...as repairs are made to a recently installed sewer main.
MSD is back on site after it says some gaskets failed on the 36-inch sewer main they replaced just a couple of weeks ago.
The district says it doesn't know how that happened. It's also unclear how long they knew this was a problem.
The road has mainly been closed since late July when both water and sewer mains broke -- it's still unclear which broke first or whether one break caused the other.
A city water employee on site tells KMOX the main they installed is still protected and intact -- this is solely an MSD issue.
Officials hope to have Lindell re-opened...again...by the end of the week.
