Local Doctor Offers New Year's Resolution Tips

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Six weeks into the new year, how many of us are still keeping up with our New Year's resolutions?  Twenty-five percent of us quit after just one week, but by this time, it's more likely 80-percent of us have given up.  Why is that?

Dr. Judit Farkas is a primary care physician with SSM Health Medical Group.

"They have the idea, they have good intentions, but it's all caught in the moment, and instead of coming up with a solid plan - 'within two weeks I'm going to do this,'  or 'I'm going to start with small steps', they set themselves up for these big ideas with no solid game plan, and then they start of kind of fall off," she says.

Farkas says the best tips to keeping up with your resolutions include to set small, specific goals -- and to have a friend or support group to help you stay on track.
