Man Accused of Shooting an Officer Disputes Mental Health Evaluation

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The man accused of shooting and paralyzing a Ballwin police officer will, later today, try to convince a judge he's mentally competent.

Antonio Taylor allegedly shot Officer Mike Flamion from behind in 2016, paralyzing him from the neck down. Taylor is disputing the Missouri Department of Mental Health's findings that he's mentally unfit -his original trial was scheduled for April.

The Post-Dispatch reports the prosecution filed a motion this week seeking a second mental health evaluation. Taylor contends officer Flamion is the suspect here, and the officer "interfered with his life." He also denies shooting Flamion. Taylor wants to fire his public defender and represent himself.
