Man Charged After Boy Attacked with Hand Saw at Walmart

CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOX) - A Cahokia man has been charged after a boy was brutally attacked with a saw at a Walmart in Cahokia.  

Corey Hoffman is accused of using a hand saw to cut the boy's neck on Wednesday.

Hoffman, 24, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder in the attack on the 11-year-old, the Belleville News-Democrat reports. He is also charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery on a child under age 13.

The boy was treated and released from the hospital. 

Hoffman is being held at the St. Clair County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
