The Mardi Gras flag is flying over Soulard this morning, which means the Mardi Gras board voted last night to hold the event this year. This is the 40th anniversary of St. Louis' Mardi Gras parade.

Even though the treasurer always votes no, the "yay's overcame the single "nay" and the party is officially underway.

Join us tonight at 5pm in Soulard Market Place as we kickoff the Mardi Gras season. There will be food, drinks, a procession around Soulard and of course the raising of the Mardi Gras flag. #12thnight #soulard #stl #stlmardigras2019 #mardigras

He explained some of the events coming up over the next several weeks, including the Snowman Softball Tournament, Cajun Cook Off, Pet Parade and Taste of Soulard. For the complete rundown go to STLMardiGras.org
