McCluer North Teachers Raise Money for New Digital Sign

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's a major "sign" of school pride - literally - outside McCluer North High School in North County.

Teachers who make up the group "MN Strong" scrimped and saved and held fundraisers to pay for the sparkling new $35,000 sign at the school's entrance.

Teacher Amy Hancock says that it was a grass-root, in-house effort that made the installation possible.

“It was a big goal, and this was completely teacher driven and the funds were completely raised by our teacher group,” she says.

Teacher Adam Bender says it sure beats what they had there before.

“We had a smaller, I call them gas station signs, a marquee where you have to manually out each letter in and something like that doesn’t get changed as often as we’d like. Sometimes the students have a little fun with it and change some of the words around,” he says.

The new sign, which uses LED technology and can even feature video, will be used to honor outstanding academic and athletic achievements.
