ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Mercy announces the building of a $54 million cancer center at its St. Anthony's Hospital campus in South County.  It's expected to open next summer.

“The cancer center will be just west of the hospital on the main campus. It’s a high tech, state of the art facility,” says Mike McCurry, St. Anthony's President and Mercy Executive Vice President.

Mercy also announced the construction of nine new primary care facilities throughout the south county area:

“That’s one of the most important things for good health for a community is to have convenient access that you can get in and out pretty quick," he says.

The nine new clinics will open over the next two years throughout South County, Jefferson County and Monroe County.  The first two locations will be in Barnhart and Hillsboro.
