Missouri Drought Continues into August

August 10, 2018 - 9:30 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Missouri's worst drought in years is dragging into the Dog Days of August.

Mark Fuchs is hydrologist for the National Weather Service office in Weldon Spring.

“If you go north of Missouri, things deteriorate in a hurry. And they really get bad if you go out towards Columbia, and east and north of Columbia,” he says.

On a map the only area that isn't impacted by drought conditions is right around St. Louis.

Meantime, Fuchs says there may be some relief on the way as the 14-day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center shows an above average chance of heavy rainfall across most of Missouri.
