Missouri National Guard, Families Brought Together at Cardinals Military Appreciation Night

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - If you know members of the Missouri Army National Guard stationed in Kuwait, you might be able to see them during tonight's Cardinals game.

It's the annual "This One's For You' telecast on Fox Sports Midwest, and it comes on the second annual Military Appreciation Night at Busch Stadium.

During the game Fox Midwest will interview members of the 35th Engineer Brigade, from USO Camp Behring in Kuwait, and their family members at the stadium. Guard spokesman, Lt. Phil Fountain tells KMOX it's as least as uplifting for those at home, as for those overseas.

'When we’re deployed we have a job to do. We’re on mission, on point, and days go. For the families back home, that time can linger, so bringing them together in this unique situation and environment really boosts morale for the families as well as the service members,” he says.

Fountain says the 35th soldiers have been in Kuwait for nearly a year and will be heading home in about a month.

“We’re all over, so an event like this brings everyone together at the same time, at the same place, and really boosts morale because then the families can see each other and they can commiserate with each other and understand the issues that each of them are facing, and know they’re not in it alone,” he says.
