ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Missouri makes the "top ten" in a list that's nothing to brag about.

It's the Violence Policy Center's "When Men Murder Women" rankings based on FBI information from 2016.

Missouri came in 7th in the nation with 1.84 women killed per 100,000 residents. Alaska led the nation with a 3.4, nearly three times the national average for that year.

Illinois placed 35th with .90.

The Violence Policy Center says it’s a nationwide education group working to stop gun deaths and injuries.
