ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A new, shocking revelation regarding who was behind the mystery cash payment to attorney Albert Watkins, who is representing the ex-husband of Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens' former mistress.

It was announced in open court Monday by both sides that Scott Faughn, publisher of The Missouri Times, delivered $50,000 cash to Watkins on behalf of some yet unrevealed original source.

Watkins represents the ex-husband who brought the Greitens affair to light.

Attorneys for the governor said in court Monday that the Missouri Times has been trashing the governor for months, and Faughn has a client connection with a group that had their tax credits taken away.

The money is going to be talked about some more in an ongoing deposition.

Lawyers for Watkins didn't want him to have to reveal who Faughn got the money from, but the judge says that he has to answer that question -- that it is not attorney-client privilege.
