Mizzou's Jontay Porter Out for Season With Knee Injury

The sophomore made a last minute decision to return to school and not declare for the NBA Draft this summer.

Missouri will begin its second season in a row with possibly its top player expected to miss the entire year. Sophomore forward Jontay Porter torn his ACL during a scrimmage Sunday afternoon and is not expected to play the 2018-19 season. The team confirmed Porter tore his ACL and MCL.

Porter tweeted his thanks for all those who reached out to him, Sunday night: 

The news is another blow for Tigers fans, who remember all too well the disappointment of last year's No. 1 overall recruit and Porter's older brother, Michael Porter Jr. The elder Porter missed nearly all of last season with a serious back injury. 

Jontay Porter was a projected top-10 NBA Draft pick this summer after being named the SEC co-Sixth Man of the Year and making the all-freshman team while averaging 9.9 points and 6.8 rebounds a game last year. He was also a pre-season All-SEC selection.
