MLB Players Vote: St. Louis Has Best Fans in Baseball

Now we have some proof for the B.F.I.B.

The claim as the "Best Fans in Baseball" is something St. Louisans are known to pound their chests about. But now there's some proof to back it up with more than 20 percent of MLB players voting St. Louis as the best fans in the game.

More than 240 MLB players around the league were asked by reporters from The Athletic to participate in a survery about some of the game's best players, managers and baseball topics. With a subscription to The Atheltic, you can view the full results, here.

Among the questions asked were "Who is the most intimidating pitcher?" / "Who is the most intimidating hitter" / "Which manager would you most want ot play for?" / "Which manager would you not want to play for?" / "Which city has the best fans?"

For that last question, St. Louis finished with the highest vote total (23.2%). The runners up were Boston Red Sox fans at 18.8 percent and Chicago Cubs fans at 13 percent. 

There were a few other local names that were included in the voting, like Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina who received an unspecified number of votes for the "best defender in the game." Andrelton Simmons, short stop for the Los Angeles Angels won the vote. 

Also, former Cards manager Mike Matheny finished in third place for the manager that player would "not want to play for," with 10 percent of the votes. Buck Showalter of the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon were Nos. 1 and 2 on that vote.
