More Missouri Drivers Are Letting Their Temp Tags Expire

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - What to do about Missouri drivers who refuse to replace their expired temporary vehicle tags with metal plates?

It's a problem that state Rep. Donna Baringer has been looking into, and the St. Louis Democrat is throwing out some ideas to address the issue.

“I would like to see more people steer towards the credit unions to help them know what they can afford, what they’re going to pay, and put that all into a payment so they can get good credit and start that good credit history,” she says.

In the wake of Ferguson, a group called the Arch City Defenders found that a disproportionate amount of low-income drivers were being jailed for driving without a license or with expired tags, and that led to a 2015 change in state law.

Baringer was a guest on the Charlie Brennan Show.
