ST. LOUIS (KMOX/AP) - Multiple drowning incidents were reported this weekend in the St. Louis area.

A near-drowning Sunday night at the Lumiere Place Hotel in downtown St. Louis.

St. Louis Fire Capt. Leon Whitener says they got the call about 7:30 p.m. of a boy drowning.

The hotel staff was performing CPR on the 9-year-old when crews arrived. Paramedics got a pulse back, but Whitener says the boy is now hospitalized in critical condition.

A 3-year-old was rescued from the bottom of the pool Saturday at Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center.

Someone on the scene was able to revive the child. A Monarch Fire Department spokesman says the boy was breathing and crying when being taken to a hospital.

St. Louis County police say 35-year-old Rose Shaw and 12-year-old Deniya Johnson, both of Florissant, drowned Saturday and their bodies were found about seven hours later.

They are the 13th and 14th people to drown in that portion of the river in the last 14 years. Those deaths include five children who drowned in 2006 who were with the St. Louis Dream Center.

Police says Shaw and Johnson were part of a group of five people who went underwater in a part of the river where there is a drop-off. A man and two other girls were rescued by people in the area.
