ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Four Seasons is about to open a new restaurant. Tuesday was the soft opening for Cinder House which replaces Cielo. Niche Group's Chef Gerard Craft says this menu will feature all wood fired food. He tells KMOX the food leans toward South America and even further toward his Brazilian nanny.

“She was kind of a second mom to me, so I grew up around this Brazilian food, Brazilian culture,” he says.

Craft says the Four Seasons reached out to him a year and a half ago giving him total control to create the new space.  The new opening of Cinder House comes just a month after the James Beard Award winner closed Porano Pasta, his fast-casual Italian restaurant on Washington Avenue.

He said last month that while he loves downtown, he hoped convention business lost last year would return.

“It was a tough choice I think that we had to make, and I think the concept can still live on,” he says.

Cinder House officially opens a week from today.
