ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The premier venture capital firm for sports-related start-ups is based in St. Louis. It's called Stadia Ventures, and their latest cohort of companies was in town last week to demonstrate what they do.

One of them is called "Ideal Seat", from Seattle, which analyzes hundreds of millions of data points to determine the single seat in a stadium that's most ideal for you.

Their first focus was on which seat is the best to snag a foul ball. Co-founder Joel Carben says that idea came while he was working on a project with the Mariners and someone in the crowd made a catch,

“There was just this amazing excitement around the experience, you know, the crowd ooh-ed and ahh-ed over the catch and then everyone’s phones came out at the same time and they were taking a selfie with the ball and the person who made the catch, and we said hey, this is a heck of a marketable experience, how do we get folks into a seat with the highest probability to catch a ball?” he says.

From there, it became which seat will keep the sun out of your eyes, or which seat is least likely to have rowdy fans a row over. "Ideal seat" uses A.I. to analyze all of those photos posted to social media by fans to make these recommendations.
