ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis County Police are trying to solve a weekend burglary at a South County pawnshop in which more than 30 guns were stolen.

They came in six separate vehicles, 10 men breaking into the Southside Pawn and Jewelry in Affton early Sunday morning. St. Louis County Police Spokesman Sgt. Ben Granda says police were alerted by alarms inside the shop around 1 a.m.

Among the 34 guns stolen were 32 semi-automatic handguns and two semi-automatic rifles. No arrests have been made. The federal bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is helping with the investigation.

Granda says they don't have videos and photos of the suspects that they are ready to share at this time.

"You have to think that the suspects who did that, their intentions are more than likely nefarious, just based on the actions of how they acquired them," Granda says. "I can't image they are going to go skeet shooting or something like that."

He says it's presumptive to say at this time that the incident was related to the nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
