ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Ameren Missouri linemen are on the way to the Hurricane Dorian zone.

Duke Energy in North Carolina reached out asking for mutual assistance.

Ryan Arnold is Director of Distribution Operating and tells KMOX Ameren is "a volunteer member of the power industry for utilities for allowing utilities to go assist each other. And so, we're sending 85 Ameren line-workers and support personnel from Ameren Missouri to Raleigh North Carolina."

Arnold adds the linemen and support staff volunteer for assignments like this.

Ameren then takes from throughout Missouri, as workers are expected to be there for some three weeks.

If the need goes beyond that, they will bus in new line-workers.
