Blues, Blackhawks exhibition game set for July 29

The 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers will begin on Aug. 1, after each team plays one exhibition game

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Blues are now set to play its first hockey game since the pandemic ended the 2020 regular season. They'll represent the road team in an exhibition against the Chicago Blackhawks on July 29. 

The game will be played at Rogers Place in Edmonton with a 5:30 p.m. CT puck drop. Broadcast details were not yet announced.

Each NHL team will play one exhibition game, starting Tuesday, July 28, in advance of the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers. There will be three games on July 28, six on July 29 and three on July 30.

Then the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers begin on Aug. 1 – featuring the 16 teams that are contesting best-of-five series to determine the eight teams advancing to the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Blues will begin its round-robin on Aug. 2 at 5:30 p.m. CT against the Colorado Avalanche, then will play the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Aug. 6 and the Dallas Stars on Aug. 9 to determine the top four seeds in the Western Conference.

The 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers featuring the top four teams from each conference to determine seeding in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, commonly referred to as the Round Robin, will begin Sunday, Aug. 2, with two games – one in each hub city.

The 12 participating Eastern Conference teams will play at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, while the 12 participating Western Conference teams will compete at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
