ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Flyers to Lambert could see the Blues as their first impression after getting off the plane.

HMS Host, which runs most of the airport's restaurants, is proposing to replace Chili's in Concourse E with a Blues hockey -themed bar and grill.

"We love Chili's. We still have the Chili's in Terminal 1. But (the one in E) has been there for a long time," Lambert Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge said. "This was a great location for us to do the large, themed restaurant we wanted with the Blue Note."

E is now the busiest concourse, served by Southwest Airlines connecting flights.

"If a visitor to St. Louis isn’t a Blues fan yet, this is where we can make it happen," Blues president Chris Zimmerman said in a statement.

Hamm-Niebruegge tells KMOX News she liked seeing how the Blues' Stanley Cup run brought the whole region together.

The airport director also came to agreement with HMS Host on a contract renewal.

Under the proposed deal, the company would open another new concept in Concourse C, invest at least $3.5 million in remodels to other restaurants, and pay the city six percent more overall.

Hamm-Niebruegge tells KMOX she couldn't go out to bid for anything else than this three-year deal.

"Normally we look at putting out an RFP, because the contract is a big contract, but while we're in the process of looking at privatization, we're really not doing long-term contracts."

This renewal still needs city approval.
