ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Not only was KMOX the only place with a local broadcast for the St. Louis Cardinals 13-1 Game 5 victory in Atlanta, but we were also the place for fans across the nation to call in and celebrate.

The phone lights were packed with Cards fans for Ryan Wrecker on Overnight America and he took calls from fans in 22 different states, including Indiana, Georgia, North Carolina, California, and Missouri and Illinois of course. You can hear some of those calls in the audio above.

But the craziest call had to be from Joseph, a lifelong Cardinals fan, who lives in a cabin northern California where all electricity, internet and cell service has been turned off thanks to forest fires. The only way he could think of to find the score of today's game was by calling 314-436-7900. His story is quite remarkable.

More than 1.5 million people in Northern California were in the dark Thursday, most for a second day, after the state's biggest utility shut off electricity to many areas to prevent its equipment from sparking wildfires as strong winds sweep through.

The reach of KMOX's 50,000 watts never ceases to amaze us.
