ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — A suspect is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Carondelet.

It happened near the intersection of Bates and Virginia at about 9:30 last night.

Police Chief John Hayden says a 28-year-old man walking down the street was stopped by an officer. The suspect ran, the officer gave chase, and then Hayden says the suspect refused to drop his semi-automatic gun. That's when an officer shot him.

The gun and narcotics were recovered from the scene.

It's unclear if he was connected to Tuesday night's shooting in the area that sent a 14-year-old boy to the hospital.
