ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- A man has been charged in the murder of Sentonio Cox, 15, who was found shot in the head in the 7300 block of Vermont in south St. Louis this past weekend.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office says Joseph Renick, 54, pointed a revolver at Cox as the teenager backed away with his hands raised. Renick then allegedly fired one shot into Cox's head, killing him.

It's so far unclear what led to the confrontation between Renick and Cox or how the circuit attorney knows Cox was backing away with his hands up. A spokeswoman for Gardner's office, Susan Ryan, couldn't answer questions about that as they are outside the purview of the probable cause statement already released.
Renick faces one count each of first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
