CHESTERFIELD (KMOX) - Chesterfield Police are looking for a man they think is responsible for setting a fire inside a Chesterfield area Target store, then stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from Macy's.

Sergeant Keith Rider tells KMOX the incidents happened Saturday the fire forced the evacuation of the Target.

 Target and Macy's suspect
"I mean, this was during a busy, busy shopping time down in the Valley. We were very lucky no one got hurt or injured from the fire or the evacuation or anything like that," Rider said.

Police reviewed surveillance footage from both Target and Macy's to conclude the man is responsible for both incidents. He doesn't want the public to approach him if they see him, instead just call police.
