CHESTERFIELD (KMOX) -- One suspect is dead and three others are in custody following an officer involved shooting at Chesterfield Outlets on North Outer Forty Rd.
Police Sergeant Keith Rider told KMOV they got a call for "suspicious activity" from the Polo store -- the suspects got into a stolen vehicle when police arrived around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"The driver pulled forward and struck one of our officers, throwing him onto the hood. Then he rolled backwards almost striking another officer," Rider said. "The officer that got thrown onto the hood at that point drew his weapon and fired shots at the driver, the driver is deceased."

Rider couldn't say officially what led to the call of suspicious activity, but said everyone involved in the incident is in custody.

"This is a safe area to shop and bring your families," Rider said. "We plan on being open and honest about everything with this investigation, which is why we called in St. Louis County Police to [investigate] the officer involved shooting.

This is actually the first officer involved shooting the city of Chesterfield has had in its existence. It's obviously something we don't want."

Police aren't yet saying whether any of the suspects were armed.
