MOSCOW MILLS, MO (KMOX)-A seven-year-old boy was killed, four other children were injured in an early morning fire in a Moscow Mills mobile home.

Lincoln County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Robert Shramek tells KMOX when firefighters got to the 100 block of Blue Bunting Circle at about 2 a.m., five adults and four children were outside the burning home, but another child was still inside. "The dad tried to go back in several times," says Shramek. "He had helped assist a couple of them out but there were two other doors in the house they getting out of themselves. So, the original portion the dad thought where the boy was, was not where the boy actually was."

When firefighters got into the home they couldn't find the boy. It was during a secondary search that they found him, under some debris. "It was a metal roof, so basically the ceiling had covered him up." says Shramek.

The four surviving children suffered smoke inhalation. Shramek says they were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition. The father also suffered smoke inhalation, he was transported by private vehicle.

The father told investigators they had been burning candles in the house due to a power outage. The state fire marshall is trying to determine if those candles started the fire.

The victm's name is not being released yet.

"A lot of our guys got kids themselves," Shramek says, "they're taking it pretty hard."
