ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — The children of St. Louis City shed more blood over the weekend.

Between Aug. 23-25, two children and three adults were fatally shot, all in separate instances. During that same time, a third child died of stab wounds.

Jurnee Thompson, 8, was killed near Soldan High School on Friday. Police Chief John Hayden said three other people were wounded in the incident.

"What we need would be for people to tell police what happened, so we can hold some people accountable," Hayden said.

Also, Friday night, reported gunfire at a Parkway North High School football game caused a scare, though no one was injured. The school reports it has counselors, social workers and administrators available Monday.

"We will stay as long as it takes and continue to support their needs moving forward," the superintendent wrote in a statement Sunday.

Just across the Mississippi River, in East St. Louis, an Illinois State Trooper died from gunfire while trying to serve a warrant, Friday morning.
