BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) - This year's official start of pick-your-own produce at Eckert's Farm will begin this weekend with the launch of strawberry season at its family farm and country store in Belleville on Saturday.

Guests will be able to walk the rows of freshly grown strawberries and pick their own food right off the plants. However, Eckert's has released some new social distancing guidelines that will be in place.

Reservations will be required, and timeslots must be purchased in advance, online at from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Guests are recommended to wear masks and be extremely mindful of social distancing from others. Handwashing stations will be provided for guests to wash their hands before entering the fields, and Eckert’s will only be accepting credit/debit cards as forms of payment. All Eckert’s staff will be wearing masks as well as following additional CDC recommendations.

The cost for the pick-your-own strawberry event is $3 per person and children under 2-years-old are free. Strawberries picked from the fields are $20 per half peck container, which is about 6 pounds.

Eckert’s strawberries and asparagus are also available at Eckert’s Country Store.
