ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The photo of Wade Kaminski with his near state-record blue catfish has been shared on Facebook more than 5,400 times.

He caught the monster fish on Friday while fishing in the Mississippi River with a friend. He told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch he was using skipjack herring as bait and had an eight-minute battle with the giant catfish to reel it in.

It weighs 112-pounds, just 18-pounds short of the state record set in 2010.

Kaminski says he released the fish "somewhere downstream from the Eads Bridge" in the same spot it was caught. He doesn't want to give the exact location because he's preparing for a fishing tournament and might need to use his secret spot.
