LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO (KMOX)-Two women and two girls from Kentucky were killed Friday morning, in a wrong-way accident on I-64 near Lake St. Louis.

It was just before 11 o'clock when a pickup driver lost control of his vehicle on eastbound I-64 near Route N. His truck went into the median and over the cable barrier, crossing into the westbound lanes.

"Once he lost control and went into the cables," says Missouri Highway Patrol Corporal Dallas Thompson, "he kind of went in at an angle and that angle gave (the truck) the ability, it basically was able to push the cables down to give the truck the ability to go over the cables."

Thompson says the truck hit a westbound van and another vehicle. The two women and two girls in their early teens who were in the van, were killed. The truck's driver and two people in the other vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are trying to determine why the pickup's driver lost control of his vehicle. No names are being released, yet.
