Need a Job? St. Louis is the 2nd Best Place to Be in America

Glassdoor says STL has over 75,000 job openings

St. Louis is the 2nd best city in America if you're looking for work.

That's according to the latest Glassdoor survey, which named the top 25 cities in America for jobs.

The Gateway City ranked just behind the Steel City. Pittsburgh edged out St. Louis due to its economic revival centered around health care and tech.

One reason these results might be surprising is due to a misconception about "big" cities.

"The popularity of many major metropolitan hubs might be overshadowing the potential benefits of several midsize cities like Pittsburgh and Indianapolis," Glassdoor Economic Research Analyst Amanda Stansell told CBS News. "While several of the cities highlighted in this report might fly under the radar, many are experiencing booming local economies, complete with a healthy dose of new job prospects and strong home affordability."

Among the top 5 cities in the report, St. Louis also ranked 2nd behind Hartford, Connecticut in median salary ($48,000), job openings (75,061), and median home value ($161,400). The tech industry is growing in St. Louis and construction jobs are also returning.
