VANDALIA IL (KMOX) — The town of Vandalia, Illinois is in mourning after the parents and teenaged daughter of the high school's principal, and her best friend, were killed in an accident while driving home from a playoff football game Saturday night.

Illlinois State Police say 72-year-old Jackolyn and 73-year-old William Protz of Sullivan, Illinois, and the two 14-year-old girls from Vandalia, were in a car that was hit head-on by a pickup that crossed the center line on Illinois 185 near Coffeen.

All four died at the scene. The pickup's driver, a 17-year-old boy from Harvel, Il. was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The four were driving home from Williamsville, where the Vandals lost 56-28.
