ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak says it will still be a "pretty normal offseason" for 28-year-old pitcher Carlos Martinez after he underwent a "small procedure" on his right shoulder.

Martinez was one of the best closers in baseball in the second half of 2019, recording 22 saves in 23 opportunities. Although he wasn't as consistent in the postseason, allowing six runs in 3.2 innings of work.

The procedure Martinez had last week was a platelet-rich plasma injection.

You can hear the full conversation Mozeliak had with KMOX's Tom Ackerman in the audio at the top of this page.
