(KMOX) - A 17-year-old Washington teen has been arrested after his mother found and reported his plans to possibly carry out a high school massacre.

The College Place, Wash. mother says her son was planning to use guns and pipe bombs to "blast everyone in sight" and "execute survivors." The attack was planned for April 20, 2020, which is the 20th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting. She called police and said, "I'm worried about his mental health and he needs help. Truth hurts sometimes," reports CBS News.

"She's very courageous," College Place Police Chief Troy Tomaras told CBS. "It's clearly very emotional for her. She loves her son."

The teen claimed the journal was "just a story" but authorities say the plans go "beyond creative writing."  His mother says she struggled with the decision to turn her son in and feels "like I've done something wrong."
