ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Two St. Louis Police officers escaped injury Friday night in a drive-by shooting.

The officers were in plain clothes and patrolling in an unmarked vehicle around 8:00 near Emerson and Harney in North St. Louis's Mark Twain neighborhood -- someone driving in a black Mercedes fired shots at them and sped off.

The officers did not return fire but they recovered the car later when it was involved in an accident.

On Saturday, a man police suspected of dealing drugs in North St. Louis is also accused of shooting at an officer.

Police say they were investigating gang related activity on Red Bud Avenue a couple of blocks south of West Florissant in the O'Fallon Park neighborhood Saturday afternoon. Officers say they saw the 28-year-old man engaging in a hand to hand transaction, but he ran off when he saw officers approaching.

Police say he fired a single gunshot through a sweatshirt pocket, the officer simultaneously tased him and the suspect -- who's not been identified -- fell to the ground.

The officer wasn't injured.
