Pedestrian recovering after hit by Metrolink train Thursday

A 78-year-old man's left leg was hit by the train as it passed.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) — A 78-year-old man is recovering after being hit by a Metrolink train in East St. Louis Thursday afternoon. 

The man from Dupo was waiting for a westbound train at the East Riverfront stop around 3 p.m. — witnesses told police he stumbled as the train approached and fell off the platform onto the tracks. His left leg was hit by the train as it passed. 

He suffered from a laceration and some abrasions but didn't appear to have life-threatening injuries. He was taken to an area hospital by ambulance.
