O'FALLON, Ill. (KMOX) -- An O'Fallon, Illinois woman is in jail after investigators determined she tried to kill herself and her children in December.
Police say Emily Sparks, 29, was going to asphyxiate herself and the kids by releasing carbon dioxide into a closed vehicle. She bought the gas and drove to an undisclosed location but didn't follow through with the plan.
Police learned of the plan through a mandated reporter who contacted the Department of Children and Family Services.
Sparks has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of endangering the life of a child, she's being held on a $250,000 bond in the St. Clair County Jail.
