WASHINGTON D.C. (KMOX) - One of the biggest honors of earning an American sports championship has to be a visit to the White House and congratulations from the current president. That's what the St. Louis Blues are doing Tuesday after winning the 2019 Stanley Cup Championship.

The team flew into Washington on Monday to attend the St. Louis Cardinals NLCS Game 3 against the Nationals, after the Blues lost in overtime to the New York Islanders.

You can watch the ceremony with President Donald Trump live via a White House video feed:

Visits to meet President Trump at the White House have become a controversial topic, with some players or entire teams deciding to boycott the visit. Neither the 2019 NBA Champion Toronto Raptors nor World Cup Champion U.S. Women's National Team visited Trump since winning their respective titles this year.

One member of last year's NHL Champion Washington Capitals decided not to attend and three players from the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots didn't make the visit with their teams.

There have been no reports of St. Louis Blues players planning to boycott the White House visit.
