DC BOUND: Blues, Cardinals to be in nation's capital next week

The Stanley Cup Champs will visit the president and the Cards will face the Nationals.

(KMOX) — After a whirlwind summer of celebrations, 2019 Stanley Cup Champion the St. Louis Blues will visit the White House next week.

Tuesday, Oct. 15, the hockey team is scheduled to go on a tour and have a ceremony with President Donald Trump, Blues chairman and governor Tom Stillman told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Blues will squeeze in the D.C. trip between a game in New York against the Islanders on Monday and a home game versus the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

“I think it’s an honor for the team to be invited to the White House, so I’m happy we’re going,” Stillman said.

Coincidentally, the St. Louis Cardinals will also be in the nation's capital next Monday and Tuesday for Games 3 and 4 of the NLCS against the Washington Nationals.

The Cards open the series against the Nationals tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 11, at 7:08 p.m. at Busch Stadium. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:13 p.m. on KMOX 1120 AM.
