KIRKWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) — It's going to be a magic time at the Magic House for the next week. The children's museum in Kirkwood is celebrating its 40th birthday.

Carrie Hutchcraft says, with the advances in technology in front of childrens' eyes daily, the museum's interactive hands-on experiences are even more needed today.

While the Magic House has always introduced kids to STEM subjects like science and engineering, those are now important workforce priorities. The not-for-profit just launched a spin-off for older kids in the MADE Makerspace in the city.

An advisory committee of superintendents and others helps to steer the museum's subject matter.

CELEBRATION DETAILS

The big party is on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., when there'll be face painting, juggling, a birthday photo booth and more. Regular admission of $12 will apply.

On the Magic House's actual birthday Wednesday, Oct. 16, the museum will feature 1979 admission prices of $1.50 for kids and $2 for adults.
