ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Nordstrom Rack is apologizing after three young black men were falsely accused of stealing from its Brentwood, Mo. store.

The trio were shopping for prom clothes last week when police were called on a report of several black men shoplifting.  Nordstrom Rack leadership reached out to the families of the accused and asked to meet with them.

The company says they are enhancing their internal practices and training to help ensure this doesn't happen again.  One of the young men told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch he asked to meet with a manager after noticing they were being watched and followed. One elderly customer referred to one of them as punks, reports the Post-Dispatch.

The boys still made their purchases at the store and police were outside the building as they were walking out. They showed officers their items and receipts, and were allowed to leave without charges.
