Oakland Considers New Privacy Ordinance for Drones, Devices

February 13, 2018 - 8:45 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Keep your eyes - and your devices - to yourself in Oakland.  The St. Louis County suburb between Webster and Kirkwood is considering a new ordinance against 'window peeping.'

"With the advent of new technology like drones and things we're just trying to find some ability to be able to put restrictions around the ability of one landowner to be intrusive into the privacy rights of another" says City attorney Helmut Starr.

The proposal they're talking about even includes using infra-red devices to spy on your neighbor. You still have time to weigh in on this if you're an Oakland resident.
