O'Fallon School Board Meets to Decide Fate of Controversial Member

June 04, 2018 - 9:33 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The O'Fallon, Illinois school board meets tonight to consider whether a member of the school board should remain.

Steve Springer, in a 2016 email thread, showed concern when the district wanted to accommodate a transgender student who said she wanted to identify as a male. Springer wrote "it seems you have decided to chance the God given biological makeup of this student without input from a court, the BOE, or God."

He implied it may be a slippery slope, later in the same email asking whether there will soon be "a place for Mohamed to wash his little feet and face Mecca three times during the school day." Last month hundreds packed into the meeting, many demanding Springer's resignation. He hasn't resigned.

Tonight's meeting starts at 6.
