BRENTWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) - Two police officers were exposed to Fentanyl after responding to a car accident near the Best Buy store in Brentwood, Tuesday. The officer has been treated and is O.K., reports police.

The accident happened near S. Hanley and Eager Roads after a driver refused to stop for police. It was dragging debris from the wreck.

When vehicle finally was stopped, St. Louis County Police approached the vehicle. That's when a "pill of some sort" opened up – the substance inside the capsule was later determined to be Fentanyl. Two officers were exposed to the drug and both were sent to the hospital for treatment.

One of the officers started feeling tingling and was light headed before being treated. Both are expected to be fine and later released from the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle tried to run from police, but that person is in custody.
