ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Mike Arnold, the owner of the popular Gus Gus Fun Bus who was injured in a weekend carjacking, has died, according to his wife.

Suzanne Arnold shared the news of Mike's death on Facebook on Friday morning. He was 54.

Mike suffered severe injuries when he was hit by a full-size pickup Saturday during a carjacking downtown. The suspects, a man and woman, maced two young women to steal the brand new truck. They were arrested after crashing into a pole at 7th and Chestnut.

Police say the suspects hit Mike and another man intentionally, because Mike was trying to record the crime on his cellphone.

Curtis Alford, 20, of Maplewood is charged with 10 felonies in the case. His alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Jana Stowers of East St. Louis, is charged with two.

A GoFundMe has raised more than $17,000 as for Friday morning to help with Mike's medical bills, and area restaurants planned weekend fundraisers for Mike.
